For forty years, I lived a life of “fine” – a comfortable, predictable existence on autopilot in the United States. But a walk on a rugged mountain Costa Rican road, led me to a piece of land for sale and the views overlooking the Pacific Ocean changed everything. “I didn’t just see a view, I saw a “Capstone” project that could finally unite my lifelong passion for construction with my hunger for a life less ordinary.”
Building a dream home in a foreign land is not for the faint of heart. It is a journey of “high-definition” wonder supported by Three Pillars: the analytical due diligence of a scientist, the structural vision of an architect, and my own four decades of remodeling grit. This is the story of how I traded the safety of the known for a “brain on fire” awakening – navigating washed-out roads, language barriers, and family doubts to build a sanctuary where I could finally put down roots and live a life extraordinarily.

After successfully building a Playa Carrillo custom home with Pacific Ocean views, I now want to help others who travel to Costa Rica, fall in love with it, want to buy property and build a house. I have 40 years of experience remodeling, renovating, and transforming homes into beautiful spaces. My building and construction experiences, and the inspiring stories and practical advice from others who who have successfully built their homes in Costa Rica, serve as a guiding light for others on this journey.

The rewards of building my dream home in Costa Rica have been immeasurable. The support from the community and the beauty of the landscape have made every step worthwhile. I encourage anyone considering this path to embrace the adventure and trust the process. It truly transforms your life!
